When was the company founded?

2020

 

Tell us the story of how you brought your company to life.

I brought Couplet to life by putting my idea out in the world (Twitter), and publicly asking questions until I had half an idea about how to start a DTC brand.

How did you feel after it launched?

Scared, anxious, and excited. 

Where do you draw your design inspiration from? 

I draw inspiration from a bunch of different brands I admire like Fly By Jing, Brightland, and more.

Why was it important to you to create an “out and proud” LGBTQ+ company? 

I want to inspire more queer people to start companies while still being themselves fully, in the public eye.

Was there a defining moment in your company’s history (so far) when you knew you created something special?

I think I started realizing we were onto something when we dropped limited edition items and sold out within a few hours of posting.

What has been the reaction of customers to your brand?

It's been overwhelmingly positive. I'm in disbelief that people continue to have such strong connections and reactions to us as a brand, and have been so supportive!

Any special customer stories that you want to share? 

There are many honestly, we can do a separate post about it 🙂

At Fruitloots, we call all the amazing products that we find our “loot”. What's your favorite piece of “loot” you have created?

Probably the packaging for the coffee bags - the designer we worked with, Javier Garcia, is a legend and really was such a pleasure to work with.

Tell us about the Fruitloots product that we have chosen.

The Blissful blend is our OG house blend that really just is amazing with any brew method ❤️ 

Where do you see your company in 10 years?

I see us literally everywhere, internationally.

If you could do a special collaboration with any person in the world, who would it be and why?

Lana Del Rey because she's just perfect.

 

Any advice to queer entrepreneurs? 

Find other queer folks in venture, investing, entrepreneurship and more to create your own community of people who just get it.

If you could throw a party, with an unlimited budget and you could invite anyone, tell us about the party and who would be there!

I'd host an iconic music festival with all my faves across every genre and make it free for everyone to eat, drink, dance, and find community in their own way.

Last question, If you could be any fruit, what would it be and why?

I'd be a lychee because it's the best fruit ever, period.
